The fifth of the five pillars of Islam is - Zakat is the main financial worship of Islam. The exchange of zakat creates harmony between the rich and the poor in society. Zakat must be paid if there is a fixed amount of wealth.

However, zakat is not obligatory for all types of wealth. Zakat is obligatory only on gold and silver, money, livestock (according to prescribed rules), and business goods. But in this case, the condition is - these resources must be nisab amount.

Zakat is levied on cash, gold, and silver, business goods, livestock, agricultural products, etc. Zakat is not levied on waqf property, government property, daily necessities, houses etc.

In case of agricultural crops, fruits, etc., full one year is not a condition of possession by the owner. When it is derived, zakat (usury) is imposed on it.

One-fortieth of the wealth, that is, two-and-a-half percent, must be paid as zakat. As such, zakat will be obligatory on extra goods. Zakat can also be paid in cash and in kind.

2 Eligible for Zakat

Poor Miskin: Miskin is said to have wealth which is not enough to meet the needs of dependent people. Miskin is the one who has nothing. According to some, Miskin is a person who has some wealth but does not reach out to anyone for fear of embarrassment. They cannot earn enough to make a living, even though they are struggling to make ends meet. You can't tell anyone about your troubles even after so many things.

Poor fakir: A fakir is one who has no wealth, no useful halal income, with which he can meet his needs. Who has no place to eat, wear and stay.

Employees of the Zakat Department: All those who collect, preserve, guard, scribe, accountant and distribute Zakat must pay their salaries from the Zakat Fund. For those who are attracted: To pay zakat from those who need to be attracted to Islam or to keep them well-established in Islam.

For those who are in debt: To help a person who is in a debt-ridden state from the zakat fund. However, the zakat fund cannot be given to him until he repents that he has been burdened with debts due to any evil deeds or extravagance. Again, just as the living person is included in the debt-laden stage, so is the dead person, the dead person who has died due to debt. Imam Qurtubi (Rah.) Also said so. In the way of Allah: In the way of Allah it means to reach the satisfaction of Allah in terms of belief, belief and deeds. Allama Jalaluddin Suyuti (Rah.) Said, fi sabilillah means those who are engaged in the propagation of Jihad Islam.

For the emancipation of slaves: A slave is contracted to be freed in exchange for a ransom paid to his master. At this stage, Muslim prisoners of war will also fall under this category. Qazi ibn al-'Arabi said: "Just as it is permissible to free a Muslim slave from the realm of zakat, so it would be better to spend zakat on freeing a Muslim prisoner from the bondage of the infidels."

For travelers: To help a person who has wealth in his place of residence but is in danger and destitute on the journey from zakat funds. However, his visit cannot be a tour of sinful deeds or similar. Allama Tabari (Rah.) Has narrated in Hazrat Mujahid Sutra that even though the wealth of Zakat is rich, such a poor traveler also has a right. If he is deprived of his own wealth.
